Purpose of the position
Manufacturing aluminium windows and doors for leading manufacturer of architectural windows and doors in our Mildenhall factory. Understanding work orders, production schedules & assembly instructions to determine necessary specifications. Ensuring that the required parts are present and manufactured to meet quality control standards efficiently on time and within budget.
Day-to-day operations
- Manufacturing aluminium windows and doors from Schucal fabrication sheets
- Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
- Verifying dimensions and product specifications; marking cutting lines on materials
- Ensuring that all the required parts for assembly are present
- Ensuring that all parts are properly fitted, aligned and fixed securely
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Ensuring that quality control standards are met
- Reporting and detailing product malfunctions
- Taking part in any necessary product development meetings
- Maintain a safe & clean workstation and perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
- Adhering to all relevant health and safety standards and training protocols
- Attending any relevant training sessions as directed by line manager
- Other ad hoc duties as and when required and providing essential cover when other members of team are on leave
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION – Window & Door Fabricator
Qualifications
Desirable
- 3 GCSEs (Grade C & above) or equivalent including Mathematics
- Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
Experience
Essential
- 2-3 years proven experience as an aluminium Window & Door Fabricator
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
Desirable
- Experience in the use of CNC machinery would be advantageous
- Prior knowledge of using hand, power tools & production machinery, as will be commonplace, training will be provided, as necessary
- Experience in using and / or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc)
- Proficiency of using double mitre saws, beading saws etc is highly preferable, but not essential as necessary training will be provided
- Working knowledge of safety protocols
Specialist Skills/Attributes
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery
- Excellent coordination, eyesight, colour vision plus good dexterity & mechanical skills
- Physical stamina, strength to lift heavier items and ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
- Good organisational skills & ability to read drawings, schematics and manuals
- Can work on their own, as well as part of a team
- Helpful and approachable with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
Other
- Have a current full driving license
- Must have full access to transport to, from and during work
Location: Mildenhall factory (Suffolk)
Job Type: Full time (40 hours per week)
