Delivery Driver / General Works Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable new member to join our busy Logistics team

Contract: Full time

Location: Lakenheath/Mildenhall

Salary: £10.50-£12 p/hr DOE

Delivering & collecting construction goods and materials to sites UK-wide (predominantly in the London area).  
Plus assisting our Ops & Logistics Manager across our 3 sites in Hildersham, Lakenheath & Mildenhall, as required.


Day-to-day operations
  • Delivering and collecting goods and materials to site
  • Loading and unloading goods safely
  • Receiving deliveries and checking the goods received, to report any issues with deliveries to line manager
  • Providing general assistance support to the business
  • Maintain and report any issues with vehicles or company equipment
  • Working in despatch to ensure all delivery / collection schedules are in order, to avoid any issues
  • Keeping detailed records of shortages and spares of items
  • Picking and delivering goods by using a forklift / telehandler
  • Organising and delivering goods from the store to relevant site
  • Receiving and dispatching goods from the stores
  • Storing goods received appropriately and correctly
  • Assisting with any overflow of work relating to goods in and out
  • Assisting in keeping works yard and stores tidy and organised

Principal responsibilities
  • Driving the company’s 3.5 tonne truck; delivering and collecting goods from site
  • Loading and unloading goods for site and other deliveries & collections
  • Assisting Ops & Logistics Manager with day to day running of yard, stores goods in / out
Key interfaces

All office, factory & site personnel, including front line and management staff and contractors
 

Qualifications
  • Current full and clean UK driving licence
  • Beneficial to have forklift / telehandler license (if not will train)
Experience
  • Must have truck / van driving experience (3.5 tonne drop side truck)
  • Must be comfortable driving in and around the London area, as a main route
Specialist skills/attributes
  • Computer literate and good with technology; can use internet, emails and sat nav
  • Good level of numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to remain calm, focused & productive in a fast-paced working environment 
  • Comfortable working on their own and as part of a team
  • Personable, reliable and trustworthy

Must have full access to transport to and from work


Hours:     

Monday to Fridays; 4-9 hours a day (variable - deliveries dependent)
When in office 8am-5pm  |  When delivering from 5am
