Quantity Surveyor

Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a keen, passionate and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our dedicated team

Contract: Full time

Location: Hybrid; office, site & WFH

Salary: Negotiable, DOE

Purpose of the position

Assisting the Commercial Manager / Commercial Director with commercial, contractual, QS matters and other areas that relate to the company’s operations.  


Day to day operations
  • Providing commercial, contractual and QS assistance to the Commercial Manager / Commercial Director on a day-to-day basis, including administration functions
  • Assist directors and work as a member of a cohesive team
  • Inputting data, keeping records and updating files using software including MS Office, Dropbox and simPRO (Management Software Tool)
  • Assist the Commercial Director to strategically expand, preserve or improve company procedures standards (including ISO 9001:2015) or policies whilst adhering to regulatory guidelines
  • Assist to resolve issues with contracts and commercial operations
  • Communicate with parties in a contract so that all understand the terms, particularly the contract's financial aspects
  • Carry out daily company operations
  • Accepts extra duties as situations arise
  • Work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines as other stress factors arise

Principal responsibilities

Assist the project management team and directors in the delivery of all commercial structural glazing projects.
 
Assisting the Commercial Manager / Commercial Director in tasks, such as administering contracts, generating payment applications, pricing variations and compensation events, and administrative duties. Using strong problem-solving abilities to avoid and respond to delays and any issues that may arise during construction.  Monitoring the projects and making assessments about the progress. 


Qualifications

Ideally, Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying


Experience
  • Experience working with JCT and NEC contracts
  • Previous experience working within the construction industry is essential
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings is an advantage but not essential

  • Ability to prioritise with an analytical mind-set and great organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills – as need to communicate complex information and technical details, and ensure that all members of the team are aware of deadlines
  • Negotiating skills - whether it’s the price of materials, labour costs or assisting with contract terms & conditions
  • Decisive with advanced problem-solving capabilities - able to handle any unexpected issues and hold-ups and solve any challenges
  • Time Management – as all construction projects hinge on tight deadlines and strict schedules
  • Excellent attention to detail and thorough processing skills
  • Able to work on their own as well as within a team and assisting colleagues across all projects and departments

Other
  • Have a current full driving licence
  • Must have full access to transport to, from and during work
  • Must be able to have flexible working arrangement such as; working from home, office and site
