The Senior Project Manager has responsibility for each project under their control, including the successful planning, execution, monitoring, control and delivery of a project (it requires a group of people to work together to achieve a set of specific objectives).
The core skills needed to ensure a positive result to any project are the ability to prioritise the project requirements (planning), manage the project team (design and procurement), organisational ability (site installation works), good communication skills (client and all team members) and accurate record keeping (project reporting).
The role
The role requires the Senior PM to have a good understanding of the project/s scope, design, finance and risk, which can then enable them to plan the project/s accordingly.
The Senior PM is a key figure in the team and has the primary responsibility for the overall successfulness of delivering a project, reaching set targets both safely and in accordance with current legislation.
They must be able to perform effectively within tight timescales, keep within strict budgets and create a positive client environment; such that clients become/remain in a good relationship throughout the contract.
They must manage a set of service deliveries, which must be achieved to ensure all activities in the schedule are completed on time.
The ability to problem solve is a prerequisite, as is the need to show initiative and leadership especially when having to adapt a situation to provide a successful overall critical path analysis. They must encourage others in the team to make well balanced decisions in their own fields of expertise, providing solutions and assistance to the Project Director.
It’s the Senior PMs responsibility to implement a group of people to work together to achieve a set of specific objectives to complete the project on time & within budget, oversee the project to ensure the desired result is achieved, the most efficient resources are used and the different interested parties & Key Stakeholders are satisfied.
They should provide training and mentoring to colleagues whilst encouraging and promoting the company’s core values.

Dealing with matters arising from customer, suppliers and site

Agreeing project objectives & making sure that all the aims of the project are met

Reporting to the client or senior stakeholders on progress

Recruiting specialists and sub-contractors

Making sure the quality standards are met

Working closely with the customer, architects, engineers and other contractors on a project as well as with all members of their team, suppliers and any sub-contractors required
Principal responsibilities

Plan the delivery of the project at hand - this means producing a critical path and understanding the timing of each stage. Following each phase of the project is essential to ensuring that the project is completed on time

Forward planning is critical in ensuring materials and labour are available in a timely fashion

Overseeing the management of day-to-day working, utilisation, implementation and technical consultants engaged on client assignments

Explaining the work methodology to the team to ensure ownership by each team member for their respective responsibilities

Report progress on projects by suitable media to sector management, maintain and update project reporting, checkpoints and financial reporting to a high standard

Disseminate all necessary information to ensure the Project Director & site teams are kept undated with all and any changes to the programme, design, new variations and so on

Develop contacts with senior staff, directors, and other influential staff within each account during the implementation phase

Co-ordinate required support levels and training

Produce reports at agreed intervals, and whenever substantive actions are required, in association with the Commercial & Project Director

Planning what needs to be done, who is going to do it, and when it needs to be done.

All office & site personnel, including front line, management staff, contractors, internal/external auditors and regulatory bodies.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications

SMSTS is essential
-
Construction planning software; such as MS project/Astra is essential
-
Target Qualifications such as PRINCE2 & Management training is desirable
-
IOSH or Nebosh or both qualifications are also desirable
Experience
10 years+ experience in the Structural Glazing construction industry.

Financial & budget management – making sure that the project is completed within a financial budget.

Communication – arranging meetings and ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the project’s progress.

Delegation & motivation – responsible for ensuring that tasks are delegated effectively and staff remain motivated to complete the project to a high standard.

General construction – at times of uncertainty, may be relied upon for your superior knowledge of the industry and specific problems.

Location
Hildersham offices & / or working from home plus site visits, as required (majority of our sites are in London - Zone 1)
