Client brief

The South Shoreditch Conservation Area is a district of London featuring many Victorian and Edwardian buildings that are granted special protections.

In more recent years it has grown in popularity as a destination for creative and tech businesses that thrive within its digital ecosystem.

 

The client, a multinational insurance and pensions firm, identified the opportunity to expand its presence in the area and take advantage of this creative and vibrant community.

To do this, it needed a partner that could deliver a sympathetic yet contemporary restoration to extend and modernise its building, in a logistically challenging location.

Our scope

Glazing played a large part in opening up this once uninspiring factory, enhancing it’s environmental and energy efficiencies, without compromising the existing buildings and their character.

The inclusion of Schuco VISS atrium rooflight, Schuco curtain walling, Schuco fire rated windows, fire rated Walk On Glass Floor, copings and bespoke cladding, all serve introduce a fresh modern feel and plenty of natural light making this a safe and productive workspace for years to come.

43-44 Hoxton Square is situated on a pinch point in the Square, so good forward planning was required for the road closures and lifting operations.

8-Build were a new client, so we had to quickly learn their processes and procedures.

The result

The project was completed on time and to a high standard of workmanship.  The client team was able to move into the building immediately, with no return visits for snagging.
