I am very proud to announce that, after months of working with the British Assessment Bureau, Vision Arch have finally achieved the ISO 45001 accreditation. Not only does this new accreditation demonstrate our commitment as commercial glazing experts to health and safety, it also means that we now hold Triple ISO accreditation – a coveted status for any business in construction.

With ISO 9001 already affirming the standard of our Quality Management System, we were also awarded ISO 14001 earlier this year for the excellence of our environmental management. By adding the third element of the highest Health and Safety compliance to our offering, Vision Arch continue to stand out from the competition.

Aiming above and beyond standard industry Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) objectives and expectations has always been crucial to the Vision Arch team.

What is the ISO 45001 accreditation?

ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an effective occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system. The process of achieving accreditation for Vision Arch meant a rigorous certification process and the production and implementation of an OH&S management system that went through two independent assessments. In order to achieve accreditation, we have verified that we have:

•    Implemented a robust OH&S management system
•    Conducted suitable planning and risk assessments
•    Provided adequate health and safety training for our employees
•    Raised employee awareness of health and safety policies
•    Communicated the benefits of our OH&S management systems to our stakeholders
•    Strengthened our ability to respond to emergency situations
•    Established performance monitoring and continual improvement processes

The overall goal is to reduce risks and make our organisation a safer place to work. ISO 45001 provides Vision Arch with an enhanced and up-to-date approach to OH&S, addressing risks and opportunities in a more structured manner than previously recognised OH&S Management Systems such as OHSAS 18001.

How we achieved accreditation and why this is important for our clients

To become ISO compliant, Vision Arch underwent a thorough and extensive evaluation process. This was all with the aim of ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare not only of our employees, but also the health and safety of other persons who may be affected by our activities. Over the course of the last 12 months, we took steps to ensure that statutory duties are met at all times and are compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all other applicable legislation.

When our employees feel safe on a job, we see improved productivity and it is important that our workforce trusts Vision Arch as a responsible organisation. Achieving ISO 45001 certification evidences our commitment to the welfare of employees, suppliers and customers and helps to reduce the risk of accidents, claims and costs. Our newly structured Occupational Health and Safety management system increases stakeholder confidence, enhances our brand and gives us a competitive advantage. Most importantly, however, this accreditation is paramount to keeping our people safe.
