Vision Arch Win Schüco Excellence Award!
We are so excited to announce that we have won the Commercial and Mixed-Use Development category at this year’s Schüco Excellence Awards!
We were thrilled to learn that our work on Chancery House had been nominated for the prestigious Schüco Excellence Awards 2024, which took place this year at the Pelligon in Canary Wharf. The awards showcase the very best contributions from design teams, and are judged on creativity, innovation, technical expertise and collaboration to deliver architectural intent.
So you can imagine how delighted we were to actually receive the award earlier this week at this wonderful event! We are delighted to have collaborated with Collins Construction, DMFK, Norm, Schüco UK, and other partners to complete this remarkable project. The existing building was upgraded to enhance its connection with outdoor spaces through improved permeability, inviting entrances, high-quality landscaping, and increased sustainability and wellness.
The eight-storey heritage building in London’s Chancery Lane sits above the London Silver Vaults. We were tasked with carrying out the design, supply and installation of the central building and courtyard curtain wall, aluminium windows and doors, brick slip cladding, punch hole louvres and steel windows and doors.
In winning the award for the category of Commercial and Mixed Use Development at the Schüco Excellence Awards 2024, we are proud that our work; which involved demolishing the 1990s glass curtain walling system, then extended and replaced with a modern aluminium façade, as well as the addition of a new metal entrance portico, the creation of new lightwells to bring natural light to the lower floor, and the transformation of the existing car park into a private garden, has been honoured and recognised for its quality.
Our work on the central courtyard and atrium glazing provided an eye-catching contrast to the surrounding heritage buildings, and allowed natural light to penetrate the workspaces, making them attractive and pleasing places to spend time in.
In completing the works, we faced three main challenges:
Firstly, the remodelling of the central courtyard involved careful consideration of design challenges, including pushing the limits of the curtain walling and structural design.
Secondly, the brick slip cladding needed to be integrated with various things such as the steelwork and adjacent curtain walling.
Thirdly, the design intent needed to align with the stunning stainless steel entrance and provide a seamless transition to our sliding doors in the lobby area.
We are really pleased that our work here has won such a prestigious award, showcasing the energy and effort we put into making sure we provide the highest quality solutions for our clients.
